There could be more then insulinoma too, like heart issues, gastric
ulcer.
Insulioma at the dose in the pills they may not be absorbing well but
it could also cause irritation to the intestinal tract and stomach
this could affect the appetite and thus the blood glucose. Diarrhea,
black stools, have seen it all secondary to pred. Need to address it
all. May wish to try carafate and some antibiotics too.
Lastly when pred no longer works using a different steroid like
dexamethasome will sometimes also do the trick.
Is there a vet you can make a long drive too for the occassional
visit that you can use in addition to the ones there that don't know
as much? I would look into it.
