Thank you so much for your answer. It really means a lot because I=B4m
writing from Spain and here vets are not ferret knowledgeable. The
problem now is that my ferret is developing some ulcers on his skin.
The wound after the amputation stopped healing and now he is having
more and more wounds near that area (lower abdomen and genitals).
They are all sizes and some are more deep (with little holes) and
others superficial. When he rubs that area (because he does not walk
normally) they sometimes bleed... other times they are dry and others
have a transparent liquid. The vet did a culture of one of the ulcers
and the result says it is Pseudomonas bacteria. He has already been
treated for the past weeks with Doxicilin (and many other antibiotics)
and it was not working so the vet switched to Baytril (which we
started giving today, after we got the lab results)... we are
combining the Enrofloxacin (Baytril) with Ciprofloxacin. The culture
result showed reaction of the bacteria to only 3 antibiotics and we
are using 2 right now. I hope they work this time... or we will loose
him. We were also applying Blastoestimulin (Neomycin + Centella
Asiatica) locally on the ulcers; but the vet stopped it cause it was
not working. On the last vet visit, pushing the ferrets skin, he
drained a yellowish liquid through the holes.=20
I=B4m posting some pics of the ulcers... I=B4m very worried. I would hate
to loose him for this. I=B4m afraid it gets worse and worse and starts
affecting his internal organs. Can you think of something? He is
around 1 year old, male, not neutered (because he was found in such an
awful state that he could not be operated).
This was the wound when we adopted him (1 week after the amputation):
