Subject: [ferrethealth] Re:Fractured Arm
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Joan,
I have had ferret fractures treated both with a simple
casting (many years ago) and what now seems to be the
preferred method of surgically pinning the fracture.
You did not mention whether the fracture was displaced
(out of alignment) which I would think would be the
most critical question. I honestly can't remember what
the little girl I had broke exactly in her front leg,
but don't think it was both bones. However, she did
fabuously in her cast, I didn't even really keep her
in her cage after I believe the first week. She hobled
around with the gang like peg leg! She also did not
try and remove the cast until 2 days before it was
supposed to be removed when she slipped out of it.
Good luck!
