Subject: [ferrethealth] Colloidal Silver nose drops. Moose
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I talked with our vet about the concerned response on these nose
drops and he explained that at the minimal amount of silver (20 ppm)
contained in the product it isn't a concern. He explained that many
years ago it was large amounts of silver nitrate that was given that
caused the grey-blue skin tones. As I mentioned I've used colloidal
silver products for other ailments with positive results. I don't
want to start a controversy on list so please feel free to email me
off-list if you'd like to discuss this further.

Moose was our ferret that had enlarged lymph nodes and an eye tumor
for about a year or more. He'd been doing well on steroids for
sometime but recently became agitated. He started having difficulty
breathing and his skin color was grey/blue (no he wasn't getting
colloidal silver) so we made a vet trip. On examination, the lungs
sounded clear but there were many nodules felt in his abdomen and he
held his body stiffly. The decision was made to help him leave.
After the sedative (torb) his breathing was still labored. It was
only seconds after the final injection that Moose left - he'd been
hanging on by a thread - though one wouldn't know it because he had
continued to get up and eat well and use the litter box. Our vet
examined the eye tumor and found it to be the size of a marble with
half outside and half inside the eye socket. Even though we didn't
do pathology, the thought is lymphoma. Moose was a German ferret.
