Could her body really have used up the implant already? If so is
there anything we can do to slow this down or at least reduce her
swelling? Our main consern is her being able to potty we can handle
the nakedness. And how long does it usually take to see results with
melatonin?

Cost of her implant was $109.00.

**In my experience melatonin either works or it doesn't, and adding another
implant at this time is unlikely to change that. The timeframe that I have
seen improvement in clinical ferrets using just the melatonin implant is usually
two to three weeks. Melatonin does not work in as many ferrets as Lupron
does, and the best medical treatment is both used together.

I am uncertain as to why the vet that you are seeing now does not use Lupron
(personally, I don't use all that much of it myself, as my preferred treatment
is surgery, but it's certainly a wonderful drug if you're going with medical
management). I would ask for that to be reconsidered.

You mentioned that you can't find the implant - I would not expect you to be
able to. It's very small and usually I can't feel them right after I've
implanted them.

The cost to me seems a bit high, but without knowing what area you live in
and if that included an office call and exam, that's hard to comment on
realistically. My office's charge for a melatonin implant itself runs about $48,
IIRC.**
