Subject: [ferrethealth] Exocrine nodular hyperplasia
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I had a ferret with insulinoma symptoms that never got really bad, she
was maintained on 1/2 mg pred twice a day for 1 1/2 years and weighed
about 900 g. Never showed bad insulinoma symptoms like drooling or
staring into space or anything like a seizure and was quite active for
her age (almost 9), the BG always stayed around 55-60 mg/dl. She was
put to sleep because of an unrelated cause and the lab report came back
saying "The pancreas has multifocal and marked exocrine nodular
hyperplasia". So I was wondering whether that can cause low blood
glucose? Or is it likely that we just missed the insulinoma(s)?
The hyperplasia looked quite impressive and I've got pictures for
anybody who is interested

The first 2 pictures are of the pancreas and some of the pictures
following are not nice to look at, especially the last ones, just as a
warning.
