My 3 year old Lily lost the use of her back legs in May. We now presume it
was an injury that occurred in their room when no human was watching. The
encouragement I can send you for Kodo is that although Lily has not gotten back
the use of her back legs, she has stayed otherwise healthy and has a good
quality of life. Initially, she didn't look well and I was very concerned.
Like Kodo, she was probably adjusting to the circumstances and that was hard.
I hope Kodo gets all his motion back. But if he doesn't, I want to tell you
about Lily - she eats well, drinks well, and has developed a lot of upper
body strength to make up for the lack of use of her back legs. She plays, and
sleeps with her sisters, and can move all around the room on her own and can
even climb up on the bed. Amazingly, she seems pretty content, even though I
feel bad that she can't move her back legs. I have to wash her back end off
a lot because of potty issues now but it is okay. I do some physical therapy
somewhat like you described and she doesn't mind it; maybe she even likes it.
