Michelle:

How often is he getting 'pred', and how much, and what is the strength of it (mg/ml)? Is it prednisone or prednisolone? Chances are that you may be able to increase the dosage, with the vet's approval. Also, dividing the daily dosage into 3 equal amounts, given 8 hours apart, could prove more effective, since the body uses up the pred in about 8-9 hours. I found that giving it 3 times daily, every 8 hours, regulated blood sugar much better than once or twice a day. This could help to avoid the mild seizures that you have seen (drooling, etc.), which, over time, could and probably will become more violent.

Regular feeding is also important to help regulate the blood sugar. Make sure that he eats every 4 hours. Smaller meals, but enough to keep a steady flow of food to give the excess insulin something to use.
