Subject: [ferrethealth] Sulfamylon Solution for skin infection??? Dr's advice please!!!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

hello, I have a ferret with osteomyelitis and also a severe
pseudomonas infection on his soft tissue. He has some skin ulcers on
the abdomen and genital area. (the wound from an amputation of one of
his back legs got infected with pseudomonas due to his depressed
immune system). I read that 5% Mafenide Acetate Solution (Sulfamylon)
has been proven to kill the pseudomonas in skin wounds and injuries.
I know that it's been used with great success on soldiers who served
in Irak or Afghanistan and suffered severe burns, traumatic
amputations, etc. Is it possible to use it on a ferret?
Thanks.
