Subject: [ferrethealth] Behavior Change after Galaxy-D
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have a neutered male MF ferret of unknown age (adult) that came into
my rescue a couple of months ago. About a month ago, I administered
Galaxy-D after 1.5mg of oral Benadryl. He then spent a half hour in my
vet's waiting room while another ferret had an appointment (we
scheduled it that way on purpose in case of reaction).

No immediate signs of an adverse reaction were seen. However, starting
approximately around that time we noticed that his behavior has
changed radically. He was somewhat shy to begin with, but never
aggressive. Now, he seems very afraid of humans and overly sensitive
to other ferrets touching him to the point of fighting. He doesn't
seem painful in any one spot but he does not like being handled and
hisses much of the time. If I'm not careful handling him, he will bite.

Along with the rest of my "healthy" ferrets, he is on a dose of 1mg of
melatonin every evening and eats Innova Evo and Zupreem ferret.

We have an appointment to see the vet with him, but I'm wondering if
anyone has experienced anything like this.
