I suspect that the timing is a coincidence.
First make sure that there is nothing medical or dental going on which is causing pain.
Then if that isn't it take into consideration that he might have had an abusive background
and it took him this long before he felt that he could express himself.
It is also possible that something changed.
Have you taken notes of the specifics when he acts out? They could give you a clue as to
whatever horrible things he went through. That is the only way we were able to realize that
one abuse victim we had became freaky whenever the oil cloth coats came out. So, we put
one down and let her approach it on her own schedule. When she finally got brave enough to
do so she beat the daylights out of the garment. It must have reminded her of her abuser.
