Hi Julie,

My suspicions are lymphoma, however, here are some websites that may
help the owners.

This discusses mobitily issues a bit:
http://wcofs.org/Doctor/Mobility.htm

There are several causes of lumps to appear on the face that comes to
mind. I have heard of a blocked tear duct or salivary duct doing
so. There are also some images on the Pathology of the Ferret
website that shows different facial lumps and what they can be.

http://wwww.afip.org/ferrets/neoplasia_files/frame.htm

Soft tissue tumors include frame #45 Spindle Cell Tumor, and
Frame #46 Malignant nerve sheath tumor.
Also, Frame #32, Squamous cell carcinoma.

To me, the fact that he did better once on prednisilone, then
declined strongly points to lymphoma.

The owners might consider looking at these to see if there are any
similarities, then contact their vet to pursue diagnosis. While it
very likely could be lymphoma, it is possible there are just two or
more different issues going on. Hope this helps give some direction
for them.
Julie

Also they have notice the back feet to be puffy...
