Well, I think that this will help. It is a previous post I sent to help you but
perhaps you missed it or posted before you saw it:

which included -- among other useful ones -- this link from the FHL Archives:

Hi Sue
It really is better to use the liquid Pediapred
(Prednisolone) instead of tablets. It is much
easier to give, and to make adjustments to.
Plus it simply works better than tablets!
Time to feed her as often as possible (every 2-3 hours)
with a high protein food (turkey and Zupreem is ok
but turkey baby food may be even better). No treats
with carbohydrates.
Time to add the second medication called Proglycem
(Diazoxide) to her treatment.
If adding Proglycem does not help then giving Pediapred
3 times a day can be tried.
Hope that helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM

and some info which will help understand why:

The liver converts Prednisone to Prednisolone before it
can be used so if the liver is at all compromised then
Prednisone won't give as much bang as Prednisolone.

Remember:
It is not unusual for the liver to not be fully up to snuff
when the pancreas is having problems.

Now, how MUCH difference will depend on the liver. We
have had some for whom any difference was slight, but
had another for whom the Prednisone may as well have
been water but the Prednisolone worked like a charm.

It's a cheap med, so there is no financial pain in trying it
and seeing what happens.

BTW, we have a ferret who has daily Prednisolone and he
enjoys one of the generic versions. Our pharmacy marks
that one as coming from Morton.

Please, check that past post, too. It has a lot in it to
helpl.
