Subject: [ferrethealth] update and need help for friends ferret PLEASE, could really use vet input too
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Ok to recap on the situation with Gwydion. First started with his front
paw, he had a limp. They took him to the vet, and did x-rays no visible
signs of any problem. They put him on prednisolne and the leg started doing
better, then he had a set back and started limping on it. Then with in a day
he started showing weakness in his hind legs, he would walk wobbly and then
fall over.
Back to the vet, the did a BS work up and it was 60, so the increased the
Pred. and left it at that. No other blood work was done, the vet felt this
was the issue and the pred would fix the problem.
Two days later, the front paws was better but the back legs worse. Then with
in a matter of hours a knot appeared on his face starting at the jaw line
extending to the ear, the knot is about the size of a quarter and hard as a
rock. They called the vet, and the prescribed Clavomox.
During this time he had trouble urinating on his own, you could feel the
bladder was full, so they were able to express his bladder and give him some
relief, the urine is clear, no order either.
They have been expressing his bladder and having good results.
Today he has lost at least 90% mobility in hind legs and now has no control
over his peeing or pooing.
The good news is he is able to pee on his own with out expressing his
bladder.
The vet is stumped and they seem to be hitting brick walls. Gwydion seems to
be going down hill, he is still eating his soup with out any issues, he
shows an appetite. Yesterday his eyes still were bright but today he has
that sleepy look in his eyes.
My friend is so frustrated, scared, worried, and confused. Please if any one
as any thought on this we need help.
What is so confusing is the change in events, started with front paw now its
fine, but loss of use in hind legs, Insulinoma has been confirmed. Not being
able to pee but no sign of infection and the vet said the prostate was not
enlarged. Now he can pee but has lost control to where he pees were ever.
Good appetite but very lethargic.

Please Help, Chuck is so scared his going to loose this little boy.
