Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Human v Animal Corpuscle Value in Glucometer Readings
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I use a One Touch Ultra meter for my kids, and it's been invaluable. I do
pretty much the same as Nanci, though. It's kind of a screening, not a
precise number. If I need an exact blood glucose value, I go across the
street to my vet who has all sorts of specialized veterinary-specific
laboratory equipment.

Even if they're not perfect, my meter was enough to tell me that poor little
Lupus was indeed crashing with hypoglycemia a couple of weeks ago, in time
to give him some Karo and then call the vet (bg=20). He's on prednisone for
insulinoma now and like a new man!
