Hi Debbie. I think Russel is right on this most likely being attributable to seasonal weight loss.
I remember the first time I experienced how drastic this seasonal weight loss can be. A 2 y/o rescued ferret who hadn't been with me a few months dropped what seemed like 40% of his body weight. I freaked! I had three other ferrets already for a couple of years and had never seen anything like it. I was frantic. I was sure he was ill though he seemed otherwise totally healthy and happy. It took
the combined efforts on the part of the members of the FML (parent list
of the FHL) to truly get me to realize that this drastic a change can be quite normal. And, if nothing else seemed wrong, and there was no concerning history, I needn't worry. In the end, this ferret did this drastic weight gain/loss every year, and I always wished I could figure out his secret! lol.
>From what you describe, it certainly sounds like your ferret is just being a 'ferret'.
