Subject: [ferrethealth] should I push for histo?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Grissom has what appeared to be a mast cell tumor on his head. My vet
has seen it and agreed. However, it has grown and until today the
bottom looked like normal skin (a big pimple, wish I had a camera) and
the top was black and necrotic looking. Monday in play one of the
others bit it and it bled profusely, so tomorrow he is going in for
removal. Today when I got home from work (the fuzzies stay in their fn
cage while I am there), the top necrotic looking area had fallen off.
I HAVE been cleaning and putting neosporin on it since the bite.
Should I push for a biopsy? I think I should. I realize most mast
cells are benign but it doesn't act like the ones I have seen,
although that has only been two. My vet is wonderful and she would
send it out if I ask.

Grissom is my little guy who had a splenectomy in June, then dehisced
four days later and was resutured.

Thanks
