Hi Sukie, First, thanks so much for all your help. To answer your questions, yes this is the same ferret that went thru the chemo for insulinoma. It seemed to have worked for a bit. The very low number that you are talking about was a mistake made by one of the techs (the actual result was in the 80's). So throughout the chemo, his results were averaging in the 80's.
He does not have lymphoma. His signs for the insulinoma was that he became pretty much inactive. That was a few months ago prior to starting the chemo. After a few weeks into the chemo, he was much more active and alert. Now, about a week ago, I noticed him starting to slow down (less active) again... same as before. No other signs or symptoms, and the glucose test was the only test run. (A few months ago, he had an ultrasound done, but they could not see any noticable nodes on his pancreas.) I got him tested w/ a 5 1/2 hr fast, and it was done right away at the vets... she says that they "spin" (I think thats the word) the blood to get accurate results when sending it out to a lab. Are there any other ways to test for insulinoma? The glucose test is the only one that I am aware of. I'm thinking now that I should have another ultrasound done to see if there are any visable tumors at this time?.
Now that you write about the decimal point, I wonder if that is a possibility that someone made that mistake? She did call it in to another pharmacy to fill.
I will leave a msg for her to explain this to me, why River is being started out on a bit of a high dosage amount? Maybe her thinking is that since he had shown signs back in January (although w/ the chemo his results were coming back in the 80's).
I think I will hold off giving him the pred until I can talk w/ her. I'm afraid of over dosing him, as why I questioned the dosage amount and the office was closed when I picked up the meds, and wont be open until Tues.
Thanks again so much for your help and if there's anything else you can think of I would extremely appreciate.
Thanks!
Andrea

lymphoma that is based in the pancreas?
Is this the same ferret and is that possible?
