I've seen an enlarged spleen on one of my other ferrets before, but
this looks like the bruising I've seen around the incisions after
surgery. She came home today and it looks to be healing, but is still
pretty large.

Yes, I double checked the notes just to make sure.

After surgery (07/24/07) she was given 0.5cc of Azium. She was also
put on Amoxicillin, and 0.25cc (5mg/5ml) of Prednisolone 2x/day and
weaned off. Her last dose of Pred was on 08/18/07.

Her electrolytes were checked on 08/24/07, so only a week before this
happened, and it was 33.

The last meds she was on was the Pred that she finished on 08/18.

I discovered after reading the 6 page vet report that her glucose was
less than 20 (possible sample error was noted) twice. I really hope
this was a mistake. They also got a reading of 60 and 81 while she
was there.

I also have the results of her urinalysis that they did on when she
was admitted (09/01/07). Protein was 100 mg/dL, large amounts of
blood, large amount of bilirubin. No glucose was found. There's a
note that says "Large, round purple debris". I have no idea what this
means, and nothing was mentioned about it.

I'm contacting my regular vet tomorrow to get things looked into more
thoroughly. They didn't do any of the bloodwork that I kept trying to
get done. The only test they did at the emergency place was the
urinalysis and the glucose tests.

She was sent home on Flagyl for the diarrhea and Amoxicillin. She's
eating on her own again, but is still grinding her teeth each time she
eats. So, I'd say she's better than she had been, but there are still
things we definitely need to check.

Take care,
Jen
