I use traumeel on myself for an intercostal strain. Traumeel is a human
homeopathic product that contains anti-inflammatory and analgesic
properties. There are many sites that list the ingredients, and a wide
range of prices too so if considering purchasing you may want to shop
around. Here is a site that lists the ingredients -
http://www.naturalhealthconsult.com/Monographs/traumeel.html

I've taken traumeel tablets for mid back pain and it did relieve the
pain. I've used the ointment on intercostal muscles with positive
results as well. I've not used it on the ferrets but they enjoy the
scent (me too).

Another product that may be of interest is Badger balms. Badger balms
are human herbal products. I rub the baby night night balm on Sully's
ears to help calm him. I discussed the ingredients (herbal) with our
vet before using it. He said Castor oil can cause intestinal upset
when ingested. Rubbing it on the ear flap he didn't think would be a
problem. I watched closely to see if any of the others were attracted
to Sully's ears. I use the Badger muscle rub balm on myself.

As always, research the products and talk with your vet before using on
them your ferrets.
