I agree that it is an individual decision for people to make. But, I
also think people should be informed about all sides of the issue.

I used to feed soup routinely to all my ferrets, until we started having
severe problems with teeth, even though I did brush my ferrets teeth
regularly. Now, I only use soup with older or sick ferrets that need
supplementation. But, I am also now also feeding a combination diet
that includes raw and prey.

While kibble is always available to all my kids, the ones eating the raw
seldom if ever eat it. They do get some processed food, as I also feed
Wysong canned and Wysong Archetype as a supplement. But, I try to limit
the use of soft foods.

The result I am seeing is larger and more muscular ferrets. They have
adequate fat, but are not fat. I am also seeing much cleaner and
healthier teeth.

I do make sure that all my kids will eat soup, so if and when it is
needed, I will not have to force them to eat it. But, for me, dental
health is important, and I know from personal experience that soft foods
will contribute to dental problems, and also that dental problems can
contribute to more generalized health problems. While I am not one of
those that feel many ferret health problems are caused primarily by
dental problems, I do recognize that poor dental health can be a factor
in other health problems.
