This time of year a number of list members tend to leave for school, or members time
family moves for now so that their kids won't miss any school. Before doing so, if your
email address is going to change, please, remember to UNsubscribe those old addresses.
You can do that by web, or by sending a mail from the address you are UNsubscribing to
the automated address
ferrethealth-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
New addresses can be added through your Yahoogroups member location, or you can
send a blank mail from the new address to this other automated address:
ferrethealth-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
What happens if your mails begin to bounce:
No bouncing addresses remain as members for longer than 2 weeks. During this time
repeated attempts are made to get the member to reactivate with notices the moderators
can send out through Yahoogroups.
*IF* the mails that Yahoogroups gets from your address says that your address does not
exist or there is no such member then I will send at least mails privately from two separate
addresses of my own to make sure that the same sort of message is received. When that
happens an address may be unsubscribed in fewer than 2 weeks to reduce the workload.
What should you do if you DID bounce for longer than two weeks or if your ISP
INCORRECTLY repeatedly said that your address does not exist (a mistake that almost
never occurred until a few years ago so it may reflect a change in ISP software errors)?
Simple, just rejoin! The info on that is in the second paragraph.
This is NOT the same as being banned; instead it is a response to thinking that your
address appears to no longer work. Only a handful of people or computers have been
banned over the lifetime of the FHL, and those required things that were pretty extreme.
Examples encountered include: overt racial/religious/other bigotry in posts, "adult"
material in posts, or repeated spamming of the FHL with sales messages (typically having
nothing to do with ferrets, often containing "adult" material, and usually automated).
The reminders to unsubscribe if you are leaving your address, and how to resubscribe with
a new address are being sent out at this time because it we seem to be encountering some
of these seasonal abandoned addresses once again.
