Subject: [ferrethealth] Injectable Ivomec for Ear Mites -vs- Diluting & treating in the ear
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I'm referring back to a post that's about 6 yrs old and wonder if the
information is still what is preferred today and wish to confirm
dosages.
Injectable versus topical- http://ferrethealth.org/archive/YG3740
<http://ferrethealth.org/archive/YG3740> )
I need to treat 37 ferrets. My options are
#1Tresaderm which I have on hand (does not contain Ivermectin) directly
in the ears (daily for 10 days x 37 ferrets)
#2 Ivermectin diluted in propylene glycol in the ears (for 10 days) or
#3 Injecting Ivomec SC, (Ivermectin 1%)
Would the injectable Ivermec be the most effective of the 3?
If so, could you advise of a dosage per ferret pound?
I have kits ranging from 15-19 weeks old - treat same as adult ferrets?
(not breeding ferrets, these were born to breeders we took in)
And if injected, is it just once and done or should this be an ongoing
treatment for any period of time?
I do understand the need for washing bedding as well.
Thank You!!
