Subject: [ferrethealth] advice for Kona
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi everyone,

I would like some advice on possibly pursuing further testing for my
3yr old boy. We are finishing up medication for a possible bacterial
infection diagnosed on Sept 4th. We are giving .25cc famotidine and
.5 cc amoxi twice a day, faithfully.

He presented with profuse diahrea and 1 minor vomiting situation that
began on Sept 1st while camping. We do have a new kit in the
household from a private and very reputable breeder that joined us 2
weeks prior to our camping weekend.
What I think happened was Kona got into some whole prey leftovers,
only our new kit eats whole prey. He began heaving and vomited a
small amount of kibble 5 minutes after the kit supposedly finished off
his mouse. I fed the kit separately in a play pen and then introduced
the rest of the gang when I thought he had finished.

After 2 weeks of the medication Kona is eating normally on his own, no
vomiting since the first episode, and poop is almost completely
normal. His stool is still a little watery, but it is mostly formed
and a normal color.
It has been suggested that I give him some plain yogurt and a slice of
banana. But I have not done this yet.

Should I be concerned and proceed with further testing ? Or give it a
week off the meds to see what happens? We finish the meds on Tuesday,
and will be at the vet on Thrs for vax with another critter, we could
certianly double dip while there if anyone thinks we should.

Advice greatly appreciated.
thank you =)

Erin
