Hi Ella,

The only way you'll really know what it is will be to have your vet
remove it and send it out for pathology. That said, Valentine had
what appeared to be a classic mast cell tumor on his right side.
Given his heart condition, we opted not to remove it. The 'MCT'
healed. Over the past two years, it has reappeared, healed, and
virtually disappeared a number of times. It's appearance has changed
some, over time, and now, it will look a lot like the picture of
BooBoo, almost like a blood blister that breaks under the skin,
spreads out and fades, then disappears. Never really gives him any
problem.

Given the nature of Mast Cell Tumors to appear and disappear, it
sounds to me like the scabbed area on the other side is/was also a
MCT.

Your vet is going to be your best resource on this one. If BooBoo is
young and healthy enough for a quick simple surgical procedure to
remove one of the lesions, it will ease your mind that it isn't one
of those rare things that are more aggressive.

Good luck!
Julie
