Subject: [ferrethealth] I'm worried about my girl
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

We have a female ferret who is approx. 4 years old. Her name is Sadie.
She had a check up just about a year ago and was given a clean bill of
health. She's always been a fiesty one and would rarely sit still. But
I've noticed in the last week a change. She is lethargic and calm, even
when it's play time. None of the spastic jumping and flipping like she
ususally does. I just realized that we haven't had to fill her food
bowl in a few days, which is not normal. I don't think she's eating
much. And today holding her I realized she's losing weight.. I can feel
her rib cage! She also seems to be constantly licking her mouth. I
don't know why I didn't see any of these worrysome signs until today.
I'm going to get her to a vet asap, but I thought you all might be able
to give me some ideas of what might be happening. My daughter and I
have both been crying for fear we will lose her.
Thanks so much.
