Subject: [ferrethealth] this is an odd ? but my ferret has a very odd smelling breath
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com, "AFERRETVET@cs.com" <aferretvet@cs.com>

My ferret Piggy, male close to 7 years of age, as been adrenal for about 2
years now. He is on the 4 month dose of Lupron, the melatonin and Propecia
for enlarged prostate. He has had great success with these meds, no problems
peeing, hair grew back full and fluffy.
About a week ago, he started getting aggressive towards his cage mates. Not
all the time, mostly at night. So I would cage him separately at night and
watch him during the day with the others. He starting settling down and
not bothering the others. Now he has refused to eat anything, he has always
loved his home made duck soup. He still drinks on his own but does not want
to eat. He has lost close to a pound in the last couple of weeks. The weird
thing is his breath has an odd smell to it, it reminds me of when you go to
the dentist and get the shots and have dental work done. Its not a bad
breath from a bad tooth, and I know for sure we are not dealing with a bad
tooth because back in June he had a bad tooth pulled and the others checked
and cleaned, all was good and he healed up great.
It looks like his wasting and I am not sure what else to do. I am doing my
best to feed him every 3 to 4 hours but I dont want to over force food in
him. He does have loose poos and they have a bad order too. I am thinking
possible ulcer, but not sure. He has an appointment to the vets Monday. Any
thoughts on what else to look for?
