With a glucometer calibrated for human blood it will read low for a
ferret (different proportion of red blood cells to plasma). The first
time you use it you should do so in the vets office at the same time
as he does his glucose test. This way you will be able to compare
readings and make a calculation of the adjustment needed to add to
your meters reading.
When you take the ferrets blood massage/rub the area first to
stimulate blood flow especially if the ferret has just woken.
