Subject: [ferrethealth] Request for volunteers to spay/neuter and/or vax DMK ferrets
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

As you may have heard, nearly 1000 whole ferrets were removed from the
premises of a farm in Ohio and are being re-homed
around the country. These ferrets require vet exams, vaccinations and
spay/neuter. There have been several offers by veterinarians around
the country to provide these services at reduced or waived costs.

The Ferret Emergency Response, Rescue and Evacuation Team
(F.E.R.R.E.T.) is trying to compile a list of these offers in one
place to assist shelters taking in these ferrets. If you are willing
to provide these services, would you please email me at crdowns at
gmail dot com? Many of you have my phone number if you prefer to talk
to me. Please specify the service you are willing to provide, the
number for whom you will provide it and the cost of each service.

Examples: Dr. A will provide 20 spay/neuter at n/c and 50% discount on
all subsequent spay/neuter. Dr. B will provide 20 spay/neuter at n/c
and will also provide distemper vax at n/c.

Many vets have said they would prefer to do this on a day when the
clinic is closed or their day off. Others specify that it would need
to be done as a session for ALL ferrets on the same day.

Also, I understand this is a procedure a trained vet tech can do.
Whether you agree or not, if you have a vet tech who provides this
service and is willing to do so, I am sure that would be welcome as well.

Thank you to the volunteers and to the list moderators for approving
this post.
