Subject: [ferrethealth] Runny prednisone
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi I just have a quick question.
For the past 6 months or so, one of my ferrets has taken a prednisone
oral suspension twice daily for her lymphoma. We pick up a refill of
her prescription once a week; the entire time we've been giving it to
her the medicine was the consistency of syrup, and you could sort of
see tiny tiny crystals in it which I assumed was small pieces of the
ground up pred pills.

But now, most recently when we got her prescription refilled the
medicine was much looser, like the consistency of water instead of
syrup, and I couldn't see any crystals in it. The label said it was
the same thing but I wondered if maybe the vet tech forgot to mix the
ground tablet into it. So we got a different refill and it was the
same consistency.

Does prednisone oral suspension just sometimes come runny, or should
it be the consistency of syrup? Is the vet messing her prescription
up, or am I overreacting?

Any help appreciated,
thanks much. :-)
