Ferret Health List (FHL)Hi Lisa,
>From everything I've heard and experienced, I believe the screaming is an
involuntary reaction. By the time they get to the seizure they are no longer
aware of themselves or their surroundings. I had a ferret about 10 years ago
who died of insulinoma, and had screaming seizures his last night. He even
bit his tongue open. I was distraught so I asked around and both ferret vets
and ferret knowledgeable people have said he wasn't aware of anything.
I'm sure little Junebug didn't know what was going on. The screaming was
involuntary and she was not aware.

>I'd like to know if a ferret is in pain when it screams during a
insulinoma seizure, or it is an involuntary reaction. I was told once
that the screaming does not mean they're in pain, but I wanted to know
if anyone else can confirm this.
