Subject: [ferrethealth] Advice needed: Paw rash
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi!

My 3 year old sterilized hob, Nalle, has a weird rash on his back paws.
Another symptom is in the ears, they get really really dirty in a few
days after I've cleaned them.
Also another of my ferrets started show signs about a month ago on her
forepaws.
They haven't been in straight contact with each other for months, but
have been in same accomodations from time to time. Both ferrets have
been living permanently with atleast one other ferret which haven't
had any symptoms.

It has been over 4 months since I first noticed the rash on Nalle.
We have been to two vets and a biopsy was taken and it revealed
nothing much. All of them suspect it's a contact dermatitis.

I have been washing him a few times a week with antibacterial and
antifungal shampoo, Malaseb. No help.
And I've been trying to eliminate causes, with no luck.

I put some photos of Nalles paws and ears to the photo page(hope I got
them there correctly).

Please check the photos and let me know if you have any idea what
could cause it.

Thanks,
Aija
