Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Advice Please Insulinoma
Not sure what you are feeding Gordy, but we had an insulinoma ferret who had 2-3 seizures before and around time of diagnosis, then one after diagnosis. We put him first on Gerber Stage 2 Chicken or Turkey baby food then switched over to Bob's Chicken Gravy after he got used to the baby food. We fed 3 times a day RELIGOUSLY and our little guy lived another 4 years. He was also on pred twice a day and, of course, the dosage increased as the disease progressed. He lived a little over 7 years but was diagnosed at 3. Since then we have had several rescues with insulinoma, have treated with pred and the Chicken Gravy 3X daily and have had no seizures or crashes since! This is just our personal experience but shows a pretty good track record and our vet is very impressed.
Hope this helps. Good luck with little Gordy!
