Sounds like the only thing you can do is just ration the food a bit.
Also, what food were they feeding?
Don't do anything drastic, just like give a cup in the morning, see
how much she eats...and go from there. How long does a cup last for
her? She may not have been overeating as much as just eating the wrong
stuff. But, without rationing, I have see overweight ferrets stay
overweight for a long, long time. Even exercizing doesn't work
sometimes....
