Hello:
The only thing I can help you out with here is the feeding part. When we have ferrets who are not interested in eating duck soup, but really need to, we take them in our lap and feed it to them through a syringe that has a fairly wide mouth. This usually makes a world of difference. If Franklin is weak and cannot stand at his bowl for too long, he might really appreciate eating on your lap, where he can relax and just have the soup fed to him through the syringe. I know that this can lead to 'spoiling' them not to eat from a bowl, but if Franklin is really sick, then it is a small price to pay. And, in my opinion, it can also help in bonding more closely, which to me was a good thing when caring for our very sick ferret. If you have not fed with a syringe before, you need to be very careful not to push too much through at a time. You do not want it inhaled into their lungs!
Best of luck to you and Franklin.
Jeff

Franklin is still not doing well. He is very skinny still. He feels
frail and limp when I pick him up and it really breaks my heart every
day to see him when he used to be soooo frisky and playful and just
generally a very bad boy (getting in to everything and anything) just
last summer. This has been progressively getting worse for over 6
months now.
He also goes up to food bowl and looks in and then seems to decide not
to eat. He will eat duck soup I made but is one of the first to
finish. He seems dehydrated to me when I pinch his neck but Dr. X
said to check his gums also and they are fine.
