In my experience, Clavamox is more "heavy duty". If you see g.i.
upset, give it with food. I would consider it more broad-spectrum than
amoxi because the clavulanic acid works as you described.

The main advantage amoxi has over Clavamox is price. And if you know
what bugs you're fighting, and that amoxi would be effective, why use
the bigger gun?

That being said, I'm not a fan of throwing something at the wall just
to see if it sticks. Using the wrong antibiotic is a good way to
culture a resistant strain, while wasting time not treating the actual
culprit. And do you know the problem is actually bacterial? If
it's viral, fungal, or neoplasia, antibiotics won't address the problem.

If it *is* bacterial, is it aerobic or anaerobic? This would also
affect the antibiotic choices....

Not a vet, just a tech's 2 cents....
