(Please excuse me if I've answered this already - my brain is off for
the weekend) I've had much better luck with having melatonin
compounded rather than using over the counter preparations. I use
Diamondbackdrugs.com and they do a tutti frutti flavor and a molasses
flavor that my ferts love. The only down side is that you need a
prescription from a vet to get melatonin compounded - but any decent
ferret vet that has seen your ferret should have no problem
authorizing the prescription.
