Hi Lauren,

I have written to the group before regarding my ferret and adrenal
disease and I have to admit I have not found it easy to treat.
Some of the reason is that I live in the Canary Islands and have
been unable to find a vet that has any dealings with ferrets. Pita
has had the disease for approx one year(she is now 2 yrs old) and in
the last 4 mths I have manged to get her on the europe Lupron depot
treatment. The dose is 3.75 mg and my vet has been seperating the
powder to enable me to get 4 injections form it. She weighs 55
grams. Her vulva swelling has gone down and her hair is softer and
has grown back, although she didnt lose a lot of hair.

Iam trying to find someone that has dealings with ferrets so that I
can get her operated on, but this is not looking hopefull. any
information or comments would be gladly recieved
Many thanks
Linda

kind of food do you feed him? Since the ferret is 5 or 6 years old
it is probably the beginning of adrenal disease. I have a female
ferret who has adrenal and she has a bald spot on her head, two
little bald spots on her back feet, and the area on her tummy that
has already thin hair, hardly has any. I give my ferret melatonin
implants, and they work very well. Adrenal disease does not have to
have a pattern. The good thing about adrenal disease is that it is
really easy to treat. i have two ferrets with it, and one that i
believe to be pre-adrenal.
