Subject: [ferrethealth] Winkie licking
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My 6-year-old neutered male, Patches, has been licking and chewing on
his "winkie" to the point that he has ulcerations and scabs. Also the
area around it on his tummy. There is no sign of infection. This has
been off and on and at varying degrees of severity for about 3 months
(he had stopped for awhile but just started up again recently). He
has a vet appointment Friday for his annual check up, but I wondered
if anyone had experienced this with their ferrets and if there is
anything in particular I should ask the vet about. Can this be a sign
on kidney/bladder troubles? He is peeing and it looks normal in
concentration, but...

Thoughts?
