Subject: [ferrethealth] Bloated belly
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I recently got a Marshall's boy from a local pet store. He was supposed to be 2 months (he
was extreme small and was all bones ( he fit in my hand) He barley would stay awake, but he
would only eat the solid food (the pet store had him on non softened) I noticed when I got
him that his anus was big and white, So I assumed he would grow into it. It has been a month
now and he hasnt put on any muscle or grown in any where but his belly, It looks rather
strange almost as if his belly is bloated. He is pooping fine, dosent seem to be in any pain.
The big anus is red now after he poops but white other wise but he dosent seem to be
chewing at it (I was thinking prolapsed rectum) I made a vet appointment (they said he was
too small to be seen but I told them it was an emergency) But I dont know if I should have it
moved up or not. Hes eating well and playing great with my 5 month old... who went from
like 1 pound 6 oz to about 3.5 or 4 pounds, so I always make sure my babies get enough to
eat, I along with other people who have seen him are just concerned about why only his belly
is growing and not the rest of him.. any ideas that I may be able to take to the vet?
