Subject: [ferrethealth] Enlarged spleen and antibiotics?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I need to take my lily back to vet. The large area mass that he said he
thought may be the spleen is getting bigger. He is not a ferret vet so
he just couldn't see how her spleen could get this big. But from what I
read I think it is very possible. I asked him then if she had a bad
tooth because her moth had been stinky, he rather shrugged it off. But
her mouth is stinky and she seems to act like her teeth are bothering
her. So my Question.
If she does indeed have a bad tooth; can the infection from it cause
the spleen to enlarge? If I give her antibiotics and it helps the
infection, will the spleen go down? I want to get the vet to gas her
and clean her teeth to see if a tooth is bad, maybe pull it? But on the
other hand I hate to put her through that and the spleen be reacting to
something else. I guess just mainly asking is there a chance the
antibiotics will help it shrink? I have Baytrill at home or Sulfameth.
Would either of these be okay?
Any advise greatly appreciated
