I replied when half asleep last night. Here is more complete info
for you, and more importantly how to find more, added to the skeleton
I sent then:

See past posts from Dr. Jerry Murray such as:

etc.

Use a search term for a word that occurs in the body of the message,
look for posts from AFERRETVET, and leave the subject line box empty.

Surgery is typically most effective, given the current medication
options in the U.S. (Dr. Johnson-Delaney disagrees and prefers Lupron
depot, but she does acknowledge that at lower latitudes things could
be different due to the higher light exposures. I carried
information from her to the FHL here:
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/FHL2407

There are other medication options being studied by Dr. Bob Wagner
and out of the U.S. by others. The most extensive work is that done
on deslorelin depot, especially by Dr. Nico Schoemaker in the
Netherlands. That medication has not yet been approved for U.S. sale
and use beyond experimentation.

If surgery is not possible then Lupron depot and melatonin, or
deslorelin depot (where allowed) and melatonin...

Either deslorelin depot or Lupron depot is more effective than
melatonin implant (which in turn is better than oral melatonin) but
both Lupron and deslorelin depots can be used with melatonin for more
effect since they work in different ways.
