The vet who deals with intact ferrets offered to "stimulate" Maryanne to
"mimic" the
breeding process, and also gave me instructions to do this myself, if I want
to try. After I
finished hooting, I asked: It's exactly what it sounds like, and involves KY
jelly and a q-tip.
Has anyone ever done this?

**In my years of dealing with intact ferrets, I have heard of this numerous
times - however, have never personally known of anyone doing it who had it
actually work. It does work in cats, but cats don't have the degree of physical
domination during mating that ferrets do, and that degree of domination does
seem somewhat necessary for ferrets to ovulate.

I have also given an untold number of hormone injections, and contrary to
myth, have never seen one result in an infection.**
