Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: insulinoma question new question
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

This ferret HAS to go to the vet for a blood glucose (sugar) test (and possibly other testing
if the most common cause is not there).

It is NOT smart to medicate on your own. If there is insulinoma the Pred is the right med
BUT about once every two years or so someone writes to the FHL who has given Pred
without having had the blood glucose tested and there was diabetes instead. Giving Pred
instead of testing when there is diabetes can cause permanent organ damage and even
death.

Time for a vet appointment -- NOW, please.

There is no substitute for vet care.

There are other possibilities but the vet will check this first.

(temporarily revived by a nap) Sukie (not a vet)
