If anyone else has had any issues with prostate problem adrenal
ferrets, can you email me if you are willing or point me to
information about this so I can learn more? The vet said that he has
never seen this happen to a ferret before, and that it is rare, but he
does know that it does happen.....it'does know that it

**It's not uncommon either. The first sign of adrenal disease in one of my
own ferrets was a ruptured prostatic abscess, and yes, I lost him despite
aggressive surgery. He had shown no other symptoms, inclucing no urinary issues,
hair loss, behavior changes, etc.

I have seen probably eight cases of prostate infections over the last
fourteen years, most fortunately low-grade and easily treatable once the adrenal was
removed. So it is out there, it's not common, but it is something to keep in
the back of your mind.

I'm sorry you lost your boy. Just so you know, though, the fact that you
gave him the Lupron probably kept him with you for longer than he would have had
otherwise.**
