Dear folks at the FHL.

I am Fred Hurd in Reno Nevada. Some of you have met me at the
Portland Symposium last June. I have a 3 and a half year old Marshal
Farms male ferret. Leo has a large swollen area along the top jaw
located between his left nostril and Left eye. he has been on
Clindamicyin and prednisone for just over 9 weeks. The swelling
hasn't gotten much larger during that time but it is starting to
block his vision in his left eye due to the swelling in the line of
sight. My vet X at Y Animal Hospital in
Z Nevada is the attending vet for Leo. She has kind of ruled
out surgery due to the fact that it will deform his face and would
not really be effective due to the fact that it would not remove all
of the cancer should it be that. Now I have not had a sample sent in
due to the fact that I believe it is cancer due to the fact that it
hasn't responded to treatment as of yet and the 350 dollars would be
better used for treatment. X has said that Chemo Therapy even
tho expensive would help but would not cure the cancer. There is
bone involvement that shows up in X-rays and that would seem to
support the idea that is it cancer and not just infection. My
question is what else can be done to help my lil guy lead a fuller
life. I will not let him suffer but will try to let him lead a full
life. He is still eating soup very well and is still very active
even tho he looks lope sided. There is some bleeding but the
interior of the mouth doesn't look black but rather a dull red and
there isn't any odor like you'd expect with cancer or even
infection. The affected area measures about 20 MM and about 5 to
perhaps 8 mm in height. I want to do what I can to help this lil
guy but like I said we are running out of options. Please let me
know what else can be done. Thank you so much for any and all ideas.
