It would not be any surprise if blue eye color in ferrets are a recessive allele since in many
species it is. When a recessive is rare that does increase the chances that some inbreeding
has occurred. Blue eyes are rare in ferrets.

I checked the FHL Archives and that topic doesn't appear to be one of ours BUT I think that I
DO know where you can search for more info since there are blue eye posts there:
