I have found that a lot depends on how confident the vet is with
ferrets, and the person holding the ferret.
My regular ferret vet uses the procedure as shown with me holding
the ferret and we have no problem at all. He trusts me and I trust
him and the ferret feels relaxed.
Another vet at the same practice is really afraid of ferrets and the
ferrets know he is afraid and do not relax. This is so bad that I do
not allow him to touch my ferrets (the ferrets don't either).
