Subject: [ferrethealth] Bloated Abdomen
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Greetings All!

I and my vet are in a dilemma. My boy, Rascal who went in for an
adrenalectomy exactly three weeks ago has a very distended abdomen.
Prior to surgery it was somewhat distended, but not like it is now.
X-rays prove to be inconclusive for any gross abnormalities.

His weight prior to surgery was 2lb 11 oz and is now 3lb.

His right adrenal was completely removed via laser (quite an amazing
task, I observed it all!) and his left was normal in size. His gut was
quite fatty and his stomach looked what we would call "angry". So to
play it safe after surgery we put him on metrodiazole and amoxi x's
ten days. Everything else appeared normal.

His poops contain a lot of mucus and very from yellow to orange-ish in
color. He has yet to be seen eating his kibble or drinking H2O. I have
been feeding him every 3-4 hours with baby food and duck soup with
extra water in it. This seems to be keeping him well hydrated and
nourished.

Please anyone or any of you wonderful vets out there have any insights
we would be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance,

John Connell and Weasels Six
