That is not far fetched at all.

Actually, it is seen pretty often, not one of the most
common signs, but not unusual, either.

It also could be juvenile behavior being reverted to, and that
can signal pretty much any illness in a creature. That happens
in humans, too. Just think how whiny and in need in comfort
many of us get when sick.
